Description of crescor 10mg tablet
Crestor 10 mg Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-COA-reductase) that is required by the body to make cholesterol, thereby lowering “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides and raising “good” cholesterol (HDL). Caution is advised when consuming alcohol with Crestor 10 mg Tablet. Crescor 10 mg Tablet is used for the treatment of high levels of bad cholesterol in the body. It lowers cholesterol levels in the body. Crescor 10 mg Tablet helps prevent heart attacks, blood vessel disease, and heart disease. By keeping the bad cholesterol level low, this medicine prevents these potential issues.
How To Use
- Take rosuvastatin by mouth with food as directed by the doctor.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
- Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.
- Take rosuvastatin regularly to get the most benefit from it.
- To help remember, take rosuvastatin at the same time.
- Quantity is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
- Do not increase your quantity or take this product more often than directed.
Side Effects
Common or generally mild Crestor side effects include:
- Headache
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Joint pain
- Muscle pain
- Weakness
- Dizziness
- Mild and reversible liver enzyme elevations
- Small amounts of protein or blood in the urine
- Stomach pain
Dosage
Initial dose: 10 mg to 20 mg orally once a day
- Lipid levels should be analyzed within 2 to 4 weeks of initiation or titration and the dosage adjusted accordingly
Maintenance dose: 5 mg to 40 mg orally once a day
Maximum dose: 40 mg (reserved for those who have not achieved their LDL-C goal with a 20 mg dose)
Contraindications
- Rosuvastatin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or other components present in this medicine.
- Rosuvastatin is metabolized in the liver. As a result, if you have pre-existing liver problems, this medication is not suggested since it may cause Rosuvastatin accumulation in your blood, increasing the chance of side effects. It may possibly cause more liver damage.
- Rosuvastatin should not be used if you have seriously impaired kidneys since a malfunctioning kidney would not filter Rosuvastatin entirely out of your body, resulting in toxicity.
Drug Interaction
Antacids
Simultaneous administration of rosuvastatin and an antacid suspension containing aluminum and magnesium hydroxide resulted in a decrease in rosuvastatin plasma concentration of approximately 50%. Administer the combination of Rosuvastatin + Ezetimibe At least 2 hours before the antacid.
Darolutamide
Darolutamide increase the rosuvastatin exposure more than5-fold. The risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis is increased with concomitant use.
Regorafenib
Regorafenib increased rosuvastatin exposure and may increase the risk of myopathy.
Cholestyramine
Concomitant cholestyramine administration decreased the mean AUC of total ezetimibe (ezetimibe + ezetimibe glucuronide) approximately 55%.
Bile acid sequestrants
In patients taking a bile acid sequestrants administer the combination of Rosuvastatin +Ezetimibe atleast 2 hours before or atleast 4 hours after the bile acid
sequestrants.
Niacin
Concomitant use of niacin with rosuvastatin may cause myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.
