Formulation of Regesta Tab
Itopride
Description of Regesta Tab
Regesta Tab (Itopride’s) primary mechanism of action involves its ability to regulate gastrointestinal motility by acting on specific receptors in the digestive system. It is a mixed agonist of dopamine type-2 (D2) and antagonist of serotonin type-4 (5-HT4) receptors. By stimulating D2 receptors, itopride inhibits the release of acetylcholine, which reduces gastrointestinal motility. In contrast, its blockade of 5-HT4 receptors enhances gastrointestinal motility by increasing acetylcholine release. This dual action helps regulate the contractions of the stomach and intestines, improving gastric emptying and reducing symptoms associated with gastrointestinal disorders.
